Born in Paris in 1895, Louis Rollet was widely exhibited in France during his lifetime. A pupil of Charles Fouqueray, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1921 and won a gold medal. He later exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants from 1926 and won the Indochina prize. Rollet became a Professor of drawing and painting at the School of Fine Arts of Indochina in Hanoi in 1931. Rollet built a reputation for his depictions of his extensive travels in Asia and Africa during the early through mid twentieth century. Rollet died in France in 1988.
